Oh growing up, the most exciting time of your life. The time you must leave your comfort blanket and go make the world your own. This will be full of the best memories and there are no reasons to think otherwise - at least that’s what everyone says. I am more worried about what they don't say. You know like picking a college, finding a major that fits the crazy and unrealistic job you have planned for down the road, learning that you are literally bound to a loan much bigger than you could ever imagine paying back, you should already be three steps ahead of where you currently are, and that you have to pack up your life soon and move away from everything. While that was a little dramatic, I can only hope I am not the only one who feels these overwhelming emotions sometimes.
Growing up can be hard and the challenges that come with college, loans, majors, and everything in between, can feel like another language. Don’t get me wrong, I am so excited and ready to begin this new chapter in my life, but I know it’s okay to get overwhelmed and feel as if everything is changing. This change doesn’t have to be a bad thing. In fact, the definition of change is to make (someone or something) different; alter, or modify. So think of this time of change as a way to modify your current life to make it what you want to be or to direct it where you want to end up. I’m learning how to embrace all of this. Instead of worrying or being nervous about what’s to come, I am going to embrace every single challenge and victory along the way. This strength of embracing doesn’t come from who I am or how I think of myself, but it comes from what God says about me. I believe the words He has spoken over my life and yours. These words are so much more powerful than the fear and worries I face through this season.
Philippians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ.” See how it says “His riches” and not your own riches. I think about this verse when worried because it comes down to simply trusting that God will supply all of my needs. Another verse that helps me in times of weakness is 2 Corinthians 12:9. This says, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
I hope this helped to encourage you and provide you with a sense of comfort as you go through the highs and lows of your current season.
love,
Merc
